From “Ask Kit!”:
Q: I hate the smell of fabric sheets, but I don’t know how else to soften my laundry or reduce static cling. Help!
A: Let me share my environmental tip for cling-free laundry that’s also wonderfully soft: vinegar. 1/2 cup (less if it’s a front-loading machine) of vinegar in the rinse cycle not only softens fabric but also reduces static.
Baking soda in the wash cycle contributes to softer fabric and cleaner clothes.
Please don’t use fabric softener in the rinse or dry cycles because those of us who are scent sensitive will be in trouble. Not to mention those chemicals reduce the absorbancy of towels and are more expensive than vinegar.
